Below is this week's RPI ratings and ranks report, based on games played through Sunday, October 13.
My ratings and ranks are slightly different than the NCAA's, though not in a significant way. The reason is that College of Charleston and South Carolina State, in mid-September, added a game against each other on October 10 to their calendars, having earlier lost games to weather. They forgot, however, to enter the game into the NCAA's schedule system, so it is not yet included in the NCAA's data base. If it were included, the NCAA's and my ratings and ranks would be identical. The NCAA and College of Charleston (who won the game) are aware of this issue, so hopefully it will get straightened out before next week. I'll be monitoring to see if it does.
Although it doesn't show in the ratings, my data and the NCAA's also have four game location differences. These are cases where I believe schools, in their data entries into the NCAA's system, reported the wrong game locations. Every once in a while in an early season tournament schools playing at a neutral site report the game into the system as a home game for the school designated as the home team at the tournament site. And, occasionally when games are moved to a different nearby site due to weather, the game gets reported as a neutral site game when it still should be a home/away game. The NCAA is aware of the issues for these games, so hopefully they'll get straightened out. I'll be monitoring this, too.
