2016 NCAA Bracket Simulation: Week 8 Update (Through October 9)

This RPI system really seems to reward mediocre teams playing in good or fairy good conferences--and it seems to skew heavily to one good RPI win. Va.Tech and Boston College are 10th and 11th in the ACC, with losing records, and yet both have ARPIs in the 30s and projected to be in the tournament. BC hasn't really had a good year--but they beat fla. state! Va Tech got waxed by Va., NC and Duke--lost all three games by combined 0-9 score--but seems to be rewarded for just playing those games and for beating a BC team with a 2-4 conference record. Iowa State is another example--losing conference record.
